words CNC Machining is derived from Computer Numerical Control machining. CNC Machining is a
method of machining by the use of a computer generated numerical code. This
code generally takes form of a tool path with binomial code switching machine features
on or off and is specifically generated for a specific machine.
Genetic CNC
numerical code can by produced by Computer Aided Design software; these tools
can create the tool path into numbers. The numbers can be considered to be the
coordinates of a graph and they control the movement of the cutter. This code
offers a path and controls the cutting tools position and therefore the shape of
the material cut.
The way
coordinates are used can be seen opposite. The X, Y and Z axis control the
movement of the cutter on a 3D CNC machine. This allows materials to be
machined in three directions 3D manufacture.
